Bond 2022

The Granger ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $44 million bond election to be held on May 7, 2022, at the February board meeting. The Board’s decision came after a recommendation was made by the District’s Facilities Planning Committee to address growth, aging facilities, and additional facility needs.

The district saw a growth rate of 13.1% this year. Our total elementary and secondary campus capacity is under 600 students, and we currently have 512 students enrolled. Granger ISD is expected to have at least 650 students within the next few years and more than 853 students in 2031-32. Within 10 years, we anticipate Granger ISD will double its student population.

Over the past four months the Facilities Planning Committee (FPC), comprised of parents, non-parents, campus staff, community members and stakeholders from across the district, met to study and prioritize the needs of the District before presenting their recommendation to the Board of Trustees on January 19, 2022. The Board’s decision affirms the recommendation made by the FPC. The Granger ISD Board of Trustees and I are so grateful for the volunteers who served on the FPC.

They worked diligently to analyze each project and develop a recommendation that they felt would meet the needs of students while continuing to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. Thank you to the following people for your work on the FPC:

  • Elliot Bohuslav
  • Hilda Perez
  • Maggie (Shirocky) Smith
  • Bubba Cox
  • Lisa Repa
  • Ricky Luna
  • Michelle Rollie
  • Jolene Volek
  • Britni Nunn
  • John Simcik
  • Mrs. Ellen Wolf

The May 2022 bond proposal includes:

  • Renovations and upgrades to the existing elementary campus
  • New secondary high school campus
  • Baseball field
  • Softball field
  • New football stadium with a track, weight room and field house
  • Purchase of additional land
  • Purchase of buses

If approved, the estimated maximum tax impact of the bond proposal is 35 cents for a total tax rate of $1.26 (per $100 property valuation). Granger ISD property taxes for citizens aged 65 or older would not be affected by the bond election as long as a homestead and over 65-exemption application have been filed with the Williamson County Appraisal District.

Granger ISD residents will have the opportunity to vote on the bond referendum during Early Voting, April 25-May 3, and on Election Day, Saturday, May 7. The deadline to register to vote in the May 2022 election is April 7, 2022.

In the weeks ahead, district officials will speak to residents to provide facts about the bond election and answer questions and will soon be updating our website with relevant and new details about the projects, tax information, voting information and more.

GRANGER ISD ACQUIRES NEW LAND

One of the most frequently asked questions with the Granger ISD 2022 Bond is, “where will the new school be located?” The Granger ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to purchase additional land for the district at the March board meeting. The property is located off FM 971 between County Roads 348 and 349 and offers approximately 42.25 acres of developable land for a future school.

The Granger ISD Board of Trustees and district leadership are excited about acquiring this new land and what it could mean for the district. “GISD is very fortunate to be able to purchase this plot of land. It’s in a great location with enough acreage to serve our needs well into the future,” said Board President, Tommy Filla.

This land purchase was made with district funds and is not a part of the upcoming bond election. Granger ISD residents have the opportunity to vote on the upcoming bond referendum during Early Voting, April 25-30 and May 2-3, and on Election Day, Saturday, May 7.
